Founded in 1859, University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is one of the 10 largest state universities also ranked in the top 15% of business schools in the United States. The University of Illinois System is a system that consists of the three public Illinois universities: Chicago, Springfield, and Urbana-Champaign. UIC is now the largest university in Chicago, its 16 academic colleges serve more than 31,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students. UIC is one of 130 institutions that is classified as “Research 1” universities in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

To tackle today’s business environment for the more than 3,800 UIC Business students, programs at both the undergrad and graduate levels focus on teaching valuable skills to think strategically, anticipate change, and understand markets. Professors at UIC Business possess a unique combination of academic and research credentials as well as real-world business leadership experience to prepare students for their careers beyond the classroom. Over the past five years, under Dean Michael Mikhail’s administration UIC Business has experienced significant growth in student enrollments and has actively recruited faculty in all disciplines. Approximately 50% of current tenured/tenure track faculty were recruited in the last five years. College-wide new professors have come from a diverse set of institutions including Carnegie Mellon University, Ohio State University, New York University, Northwestern University, Stanford University, University of Michigan, University of California Berkley, and the University of Minnesota, among others.
