In general, after the examinations, you will be informed at least two months before the new semester starts. The school will give students enough time to apply for a U.S. visa and to pay the tuition fees.
Once students pass the examinations and pay the tuition fees, the school will send the I-20 to the students in order to apply for the visa as soon as possible.
Due to the intensive nature of the course, there are fewer holidays. However, students will have enough time to travel to the other cities in America. There is a three to five-day break between each semester, and a vacation during Christmas and Thanksgiving. As an example, one of the former students, who, before graduation, visited France, Boston, Indiana, Panama, Florida, Seattle, and Mexico in her spare time. Thus, students will still be able to enjoy their time there.
Here is a Cost Estimated Form for international students.
A shared house is around USD 600-800 per person, while it is around USD 1000-1200 per person for a studio (the room is not separated from the kitchen), and around USD 1200-1600 per person for a 1B1B apartment (a room with a separate bathroom and a kitchen). As this is MBA program, a school dormitory is provided to university students. Our representative office in Taiwan has started producing a new manual. We will hold an orientation meeting before departure so that Taiwanese students can get to know each other, and we will also give students our recommendations with regard to banks, accommodation, restaurants, and daily life issues.
You need to be careful regardless of whatever country you are studying in, but when compared with the other cities in the United States, Chicago is not particularly dangerous. The crime rate in Chicago is higher than other cities, but those crimes are based around specific streets and blocks and most people will generally avoid those areas. We have a certain number of security guards on campus and the police make regular rounds, so it is quite safe in the urban district. Everyone should go out in groups and avoid walking alone in the streets between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
The campus is located in the center of Chicago, so transportation is quite convenient. Students will get an unlimited bus card included in the tuition fees. It is very convenient to buy a car; you just need to exchange your license for an international driving license to enjoy driving in Chicago.
In winter, it is freezing in Chicago and the temperature will be around minus 20 degrees. It is better to take some warm clothes with you in case of the cold weather catches you off guard. Do not worry too much as it is easy to buy winter clothes in Chicago and there are a lot of indoor heaters. Seeing the snow and beautiful scenery in Chicago will be a memorable overseas study experience of your lifetime.
.Writing Test
Students need to read a business article or a chart, and write down their thoughts in English to answer the questions. The main purpose is to test English writing ability.
.Interview

Optional Practical Training (OPT) allows international students to be employed in the United States for one year after completion of studies. Graduate students can apply for OPT after finishing all MBA coursework. Employment must be directly related to area of study and correspond with education level. No job offer is needed to apply. But OPT applicants are only allowed a total of “90 days” unemployment during their initial 12-month OPT period.
After a year, it depends on your employer if he or she wants to apply for a work visa for you.
Students can contact UIC Business Career Center at the school for assistance. UIC has a complete system to assist students.
The current ratio is about three to seven. There are slightly more students with about 1-5 years of work experience.
